How to connect

Connecting to L2Heretics is simple, we require no system patches, all that is needed is the Lineage 2 Freya client and a quick host file modification.

Step 1: Download the client
Currently the Freya client can be dowloaded at http://games.on.net/file/36519/Lineage_II_Freya_-_Full_Game_Client
After the file is downloaded extract the files with a program which can extract zip files (I recommend 7zip) and install the game and start the updater.
If you use Linux(like me) you will need a program called wine to run the game, wine can be obtained from most distributions package repositories.

Step 2: Edit your hosts file
In order to connect to the server you will need to edit your hosts file so that the game connects to our server rather than the retail one.
To do this, navigate to the hosts file (it is located at C:/windows/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts in windows, and /etc/hosts in Linux) and open it in a text editor such as notepad, and add the following line:

98.238.205.182 L2authd.lineage2.com

Then save it.

Once its saved, start the game and you should be now be connecting to L2Heretics, have fun and enjoy your stay


Optional step 3: Patch gameguard
If you experience problems with game guard or if you use Linux you will need to use a small system patch to disable gameguard.

Extract the file with 7zip, then copy dsetup.dll, and navigate to your L2 system folder(C:/Program Files/NCSoft/Lineage II/system) and delete the dsetup.dll found there, then paste the one obtained from the downloaded archive. After that, you will never have GG problems again .



EXTREME IMPORTANT NOTICE: DO NOT UPDATE THE CLIENT! RUN THE GAME VIA L2.BIN IN THE SYSTEM FOLDER!!!!!!!!!!!!
